Calculate a file hash free

Calculates a checksum (hash) of a file to check that it is unchanged.

When do you use this?

Handy for checking a download against the checksum provided.

Good to know

Tested with a file of 200 kB: the SHA-256 matched my own calculation exactly. The same site has other hash functions (such as MD5 and SHA-1); I did not test those separately. The file stays in your browser. The site shows Google ads. English interface.
