Add subtitles to video free

Add subtitles from an SRT file to a video, burned into the picture or as a track you can switch on and off.

When do you use this?

Useful when you want to subtitle a film for social media or for another language.

Good to know

Choose 'Embed Subtitles' and an SRT, VTT or ASS file. Two ways: 'Hard-burn' (the text is fixed in the picture; tested: visible at the given times and not outside them) or 'Soft' (a subtitle track you can switch on in MP4 or MKV; tested: track with our text present). You need to have the SRT yourself. Tested with a short mp4 (4 seconds, 320x240); large files were not tested. According to the developer, there is a memory limit of about 2 GB. In English; first loads an engine of about 31 MB.

What we do

freetools.ink collects free online tools for drawing, design, photos, documents and more. For each tool you read in a few words what it is for, so you do not have to search yourself.

How it works

Browse by category or search by name. One click opens the tool on its maker’s website. With a free account (name and email, a code by email, no password) you keep your own websites in a personal list that only you can see.
